Misty Valley development gets preliminary plat approval

A development just south of Leitersburg received preliminary plat approval Monday night from the Washington County Planning Commission.

The development, Misty Valley, is on the east side of Little Antietam Road and will consist of 10 dwelling units on 76.62 acres.

Misty Valley Development LLC owns the property.

Site plan for kennel approved

The Washington County Planning Commission on Monday approved the site plan for a dog kennel on Leitersburg-Smithsburg Road in Leitersburg.

The kennel, Pet Retreat at Paramount Farm, is just past the Old Leitersburg School.

Chief Planner Tim Lung said the kennel's hours will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and that dogs will be in the facility around the clock.

Three proposed housing developments discussed

The Washington County Planning Commission on Monday discussed three preliminary meetings held previously on three proposed housing developments.

The first development discussed, Scharf Estates, is proposed for the west side of Trovinger Mill Road, north of the intersection with Jefferson Boulevard.

A 25-lot, single-family subdivision on 34 acres is proposed for the property. The land is zoned Agriculture.

The second proposed development, Cloverly, would contain 72 residential lots on 62 acres north of Md. 77 and east of Md. 64 near Smithsburg. The land is zoned Agriculture and Environmental Conservation.

The other proposed development, called the Groves Tract in planning documents, would contain 66 semi-detached dwelling unit lots on 20.21 acres along the east side of Morning Glory Lane in St. James.

The Groves Tract is zoned rural residential.
