McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Hustontown, Pa., man for burglary and other offenses.

David Michael McDaniel, 20, of 195 Church St. in Hustontown, was charged in the arrest warrant with burglary, two counts of unlawful restraint, robbery, two counts of theft, two counts of simple assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, driving while suspended, underage drinking and other traffic offenses, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

McDaniel is charged with entering a home in the 700 block of East Market Street in McConnellsburg on Oct. 22 shortly before midnight, while a 65-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl in the home were sleeping, police said. When the woman saw McDaniel, who she said was holding a knife, she tried to run outside. McDaniel allegedly ran after her and grabbed the woman by the throat with one hand and grabbed her right arm with his other hand, police said.

Then, police said, he pulled the woman back into the house.

McDaniel searched the rooms and found $478, which he pocketed, police said. After the woman told McDaniel she needed the money to pay a bill, he gave the money back to her, police said.

When the woman's granddaughter woke up, the girl tried to leave the home, but McDaniel allegedly grabbed the girl and would not let her leave, police said.

When McDaniel asked the woman for a cigarette, she said she did not have any and offered him $5 to go to buy a pack at the store, police said. McDaniel took the money and asked the woman to take a ride with him. When she refused, McDaniel took the keys to her 2004 Ford truck and left the home, police said.

As McDaniel turned south onto Crystal Drive, he hit a 1992 Hazelwood trailer, which was parked along the shoulder, police said.

McDaniel did not stop, and continued to drive south on Crystal Drive. The stolen truck was found the next day by police in Chambersburg, Pa.

Police are still searching for McDaniel, who is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair, police said. Anyone with information about McDaniel is asked to call police at 717-485-3131.
