Sereni-TeaTea Room



The Sereni-Tea Tea Room is open at 201 N. Burhans Blvd.

Teas will be served at 11a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations are accepted and walk-ins are welcome.

Ranota Koontz has finished courses in tea room etiquette and will oversee the operations of the tea room.

ABF Freight System



FORT SMITH, Ark. - ABF Freight System Inc. has been recognized by the American Trucking Association as the top motor carrier in both claims/loss prevention and security.

This marks the 30th time since 1971 that ABF has earned recognition from the Safety and Loss Prevention Management Council. ABF won the Excellence in Claims/Loss Prevention Award in 2001 and 2002 and the Excellence in Security Award in 2001 and 2004.

The ATA Safety and Loss Prevention Management Council presented the two awards to ABF on Oct. 4 at the group's annual conference in Miami.

Edward Jones



SmartMoney magazine in its August edition named the financial-services firm Edward Jones the No. 1 full-service broker, according to the seven local Edward Jones investment representatives.

The firm placed ahead of seven other firms and received the highest possible ranking in all four categories surveyed by the magazine: stock-picking, customer satisfaction, trust survey and customer statements.

Ryan PhysicalTherapy Associates

Ryan Physical Therapy Associates presented a seminar in its continuing community health series, Helping You Help Yourself, on Wednesday Oct. 19, at the office at 1190 Mount Aetna Road in Hagerstown.

This program, Mind-Body Connection, was presented by Laurel Brown, L-MSW, and Stephen D. Ryan, MPT, president of Ryan Physical Therapy Associates.

The free workshop was designed to educate people about how their emotional tone and stress levels can affect their overall health and physical well being. The program focused on techniques for quick and easy stress management reduction of physical tension, and how to improve energy level. It also focused on the latest scientific research demonstrating how regular exercise regimen does show beneficial effects on both mental and physical health of an individual.

This free community seminar series is held every two months at Ryan Physical Therapy Associates. The next seminar is scheduled for December, on a date to be announced.
