Pet of the week

November 05, 2005

Homey is an orange tabby who is about 5 years old and weighs 20 pounds. He has been neutered and declawed, so he needs a home where he can't get outside. Homey has a reserved yet loving personality.

Pet tip

A pet should have its own clean, dry place in the home to sleep and rest. Line a cat's bed with a soft, warm blanket or towel. Be sure to wash the bedding often. Cats should be kept indoors. Cats who are allowed outdoors can contract diseases, get ticks or parasites, become lost or get hit by a car, or get into fights with other free-roaming cats and dogs.

Also, cats might prey on native wildlife.

To visit Homey and the other animals at the Humane Society of Washington County, stop by the shelter at 13011 Maugansville Rd., Hagerstown, or call 301-733-2060 ext. 237.
