November 04, 2005

CLEAR SPRING - An 86-year-old Big Pool man who was critically injured in a Saturday afternoon accident on U.S. 40 near Hagerstown Speedway died Tuesday at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Woodrow Wilson Henson Sr. was transported to Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police helicopter after the 2 p.m. accident, police said.

Henson was driving a 1992 Ford Ranger pickup truck east on U.S. 40 when police said he ran into the rear of a 2003 Ford F-350 pickup truck that stopped to make a left turn into the speedway's entrance, police said.

The impact of the crash forced Henson's vehicle into the oncoming lane, where it was struck on the driver's side by a westbound 2002 Ford Ranger, police said.
