November 01, 2005

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Friends of the Shepherdstown Library (FOSL) will celebrate the organization's 10th anniversary with activities throughout the week starting Monday, Nov. 14.

The library's youngest users will receive a small gift when they visit the children's department anytime during the week.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, older children and their families are invited to attend a living history presentation and party at O'Hurley's General Store.

Storyteller Karen Vuranch will portray Mary Ingles, who was captured by Indians on the Virginia frontier in 1755 and made an 800-mile escape. The presentation will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by tea and cake.

From 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, the public is invited to join FOSL members at a wine-and-cheese reception and book-buying party at Four Seasons Bookstore. Four Seasons will contribute $1 to FOSL for every book sold that evening.
