Boys basketball registration
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation is accepting registration for its Boys Winter Basketball League. The league is open to boys in grades three through eight and ages 8 to 14 as of Sept. 1, 2005. The fee is $35 per player and a birth certificate must accompany the application if the child has not previously played in a Parks & Recreation league.

Cheerleading clinic
MONT ALTO, Pa. - The Penn State Mont Alto cheerleading squad will host a cheerleading clinic from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, in the Multipurpose Activities Center on campus. Registration begins at noon.
The event is open to girls between the ages of 7 and 18. Cheerleaders can register individually or as a team. The cost is $20 per person and includes a T-shirt. Cheerleaders will learn new cheers and dance routines and will have the opportunity to work on jumps, stunts and tumbling.

THURMONT, Md. - Lewistown Elementary School PTA will host Thomas J. Zirpoli, author of "Cures for Parental Wimp Syndrome: Lessons on Becoming a Strong Parent," from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Lewistown Elementary School, 1119 Hessong Road. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the program at 6:30 p.m.
Zirpoli will urge parents and caregivers to get "back to basics" by giving clear and simple advice.
The program is co-sponsored by Families Plus! and the Frederick County Public Schools' Community Agency Support Services. Child Care Choices continued training is available for Maryland childcare providers. Training credit also is available for foster parents.

Youth volleyball instruction
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Greencastle-Antrim YMCA will host youth volleyball at Greencastle-Antrim Primary School. Youth volleyball is open to any child ages 6 years through sixth grade. The program incorporates instruction and light competition. Teams will not be formed.
The program will be offered Saturday mornings with each age group meeting for one hour, beginning Saturday, Nov. 5, and continuing through Dec. 7.
