Carved pumpkin contest in Chambersburg



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A carved pumpkin contest will benefit the Council for the Arts. Monetary prizes will be awarded in two age brackets. The pumpkins will be on display until 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Bring pumpkins Saturday, Oct. 29, to Gypsie & Thomas June Gallery, 21 N. Main St. $5, adults; $3, children. 'Nutcracker' auditions



SHARPSBURG - The Academy of the Hagerstown Ballet and Antietam Ballet Theatre will hold auditions for the "Nutcracker." Male and female dancers are needed for multiple roles. No prior ballet training is required. Children must be at least 6 years old and must be accompanied by an adult. Provide child's height, weight, dress, shirt and pant sizes. Registration at 9:45 a.m., auditions begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at 104 S. Mechanic St. Performances will be Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 9, through Dec. 18. Call 301-582-2222.
