October 28, 2005

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver and Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Lynn Swann will be the guest speaker at the Franklin County Republican Committee Lincoln Day Dinner in February.

Team 88, Swann's campaign committee in Pittsburgh, confirmed the former Pittsburgh Steeler will attend the 6:30 p.m. dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Lighthouse Restaurant, according to Roger Beckner, chairman of the Franklin County Republican Committee.

Swann, 53, is running for the GOP nomination as are two other declared candidates, former Lt. Gov. William Scranton and state Sen. Jeffrey Piccola of Dauphin County. Piccola was the main speaker at last February's Lincoln Day Dinner.

The winner of the May 2006 primary will run in the 2006 general election.

"We've been working on it since back in the spring," Beckner said. "I'm very excited to have gubernatorial candidate Lynn Swann come to Franklin County and make his views known."
