WELSH RUN, Pa. - A McConnellsburg, Pa., woman died Tuesday night in a one-vehicle accident on Mercersburg Road in Montgomery Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Maria R. Corbett, 45, of 1033 Crossroads Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:46 p.m. crash, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner. Corbett died of blunt force multiple trauma and there will be no autopsy, Conner said.
Police said Corbett was driving a 1989 Buick LeSabre north in the 12000 block of Mercersburg Road at a high speed when she lost control on a curve. The car ran off the road and struck a telephone pole, then rolled over several times before coming to rest on its roof in the middle of the road, police said.
Corbett was not wearing a seat belt, police said. She was thrown from the car, Conner said.
The accident happened about a half-mile south of the Pa. 995 intersection, police said. Fire and ambulance personnel from Mercersburg assisted at the scene, police said.
