Boonsboro boys could get Smithsburg

The No. 1-ranked Boonsboro boys soccer unit hits the tournament trail next Tuesday as Maryland state action commences.

The Warriors were given a first-round bye and will meet Friday's winner from the Smithsburg at Allegany contest in the Class 1A West region. In the same region, No. 9 Williamsport and Westmar each drew a first-round bye and the Wildcats will go to Westmar Tuesday.

In a first-round game Friday, Clear Spring will host Southern Garrett. In the 1A West Region on Friday, Catoctin hosts Western Tech. Brunswick received a bye and will host Chesapeake-BC Tuesday.

In the Class 2A West Region, South Hagerstown greets South Carroll, Middletown hosts Francis Scott Key and Walkersville hosts Frederick. North Hagerstown has a bye and will greet Winters Mill on Tuesday.


No. 6 Tuscarora entertains Westminster on Tuesday in the 3A West and No. 7 Thomas Johnson hosts Kenwood in a 4A North matchup on Friday.

The girls soccer tournament begins on Friday also with Clear Spring the host to Fort Hill in a 1A West Region encounter.

With byes, No. 7 Boonsboro goes to No. 10 Williamsport and No. 2 Smithsburg plays at the Northern Garrett-Westmar winner on Tuesday in the 1A West. In the 1A South, No. 5 Catoctin visits Brunswick on Tuesday.

In the 2A West, South Hagerstown entertains No. 8 Middletown, Frederick goes to Francis Scott Key and Walkersville hosts South Carroll on Friday. In the second round on Tuesday, No. 3 North Hagerstown will host the South Carroll-Walkersville winner.

No. 1 Tuscarora hosts the Westminster-Linganore winner on Tuesday in the 3A West Region and Thomas Johnson entertains Parkville in the 4A North Region on Friday.
