Free seminar on 'dairing today and tomorrow' Nov. 15 at county ag Center

A free seminar on dairying is being held in Washington County next month.

The seminar, titled "The Road to Opportunity - Dairying Today & Tomorrow," will be held Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the multipurpose building at the Washington County Ag Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, south of Hagerstown. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

Keynote speaker Gary Snider, an accredited agricultural consultant, will discuss tips to "Making Profitable Decisions" on your farm, according to Holly Porter of MidAtlantic Farm Credit.

"He will help you analyze your business and explore some tools to monitor and improve your practices," Por-ter said in a news release.


She said Snider is vice president and manager of Farm Credit of Western New York's consulting program. He has more than 30 years of management consulting experience with Cornell Cooperative Extension and Farm Credit.

Other speakers are:

  • Suzanne Hayes of Morgan Stanley - Financial Planning;

  • Michael Day, Elder Law Attorney - Estate Planning;

  • Jim Schlossnagle, District Conservationist - Federal & State Cost Share Programs; and

  • John Roderick of the Maryland Department of Agriculture and Kenny Bounds, of MidAtlantic Farm Credit - Low Interest Loans for Agricultural Conservation (LILAC).

Lunch will be provided.
