"I am the Box Tops for Education coordinator for Broadfording Christian Academy and we are collecting box tops from General Mills products. Our goal is to raise money for the students' and teachers' classrooms to purchase extra supplies needed such as books and educational games. Each box top is worth 10 cents. If you are able to help us, please send your box tops to Broadfording Christian Academy, 13535 Broadfording Church Road, Hagertown, MD 21740, Attention: Denise Kelly. Your trash is our treasure! Please support our school if you are able."

"I watched the City Council on TV, discussing the impact fees and a small fee for setting out trash in bins. They say it's a small fee. With jobs in Hagers-town paying $10 and $11 an hour, and folks having to work two and three jobs just to try to squeeze all they can out of their $10 or $11 an hour, and the rent and the cost of living around this area now, they talk about a couple of dollars. I see that they're raising all these other bills, too. Where do we get this money?"

"We can't put our trash cans out on the sidewalks after a snowstorm, and we can't protect our parking spot in front of our place, yet we are responsible for replacing the sidewalks. The way this place nickels and dimes you with all these taxes and things, I think all the American people are going to have to move to Mexico. That's where all the jobs are going. Maybe we could afford to live, and then all the foreigners can come here, and all the people from the big cities who make the big bucks can afford to live here."

"This is to the person who is stealing chickens from my home. If you would return them, and if you were hungry, I could give you food. You are really low to steal chickens from me not once, but three times. Come on, people, they were not only pets but part of the family."

"Do they still have the neighborhood Watch on East Franklin Street? From about 6 p.m. to about 5 a.m., there are people who I guess are drug dealers because they're on cell phones. They're sitting around on people's porches and they don't live there. The police respond very quickly when I call but it doesn't seem to do any good. We're going to have to start issuing citations or something."

"About kids in restaurants, I'm a mother of four and grandmother of five. I love children, and when I'm eating in a restaurant and there are children seated next to me, I can't help but smile and adore them. But if those kids are running around the dining area, pestering me and others, and their parents do not make them sit at the table and learn table manners, I get a little disturbed. It's our duty as parents to teach them table manners at an early age, and that starts by patiently sitting at the table."

"I'm calling to ask about Friday's newspaper. It had part of Saturday's newspaper in it, and Monday's paper had comics that were duplicated where other comics should have been."

- Myersville, Md.

"This is to the lady whose small gray purse was turned in at Martin's on Dual Highway. I would appreciate a thank you."

- Smithsburg

"I'm calling about the guy in Greencastle who wears the patriotic clothing. I agree with him; people are very mean. Just because I wear a turban, pink Spandex shorts and roller-skates, people call me names and I think it's horrible. I just wanted to say that I feel for him."

"I am the person who called with the comment about unruly kids in restaurants. It's obvious that people in Hagerstown don't read or don't understand. My point was that the children were unruly. There was no discipline provided by the parents. I have no problem with children in a restaurant as long as they are disciplined and act properly. If you want to act like a hooligan, there are places to take the hooligans. Fine dining establishments are no place for unruly children. See if Hagers-town citizens can understand that."

"Mr. Patriotic Bicycle Rider, if you are as proud as you say you are, then I would stop worrying about what people say, and just thank them for noticing that you're able to be unique."

- Greencastle, Pa.

"In a restaurant, children should be sitting with their parents, eating their meal - not running around. What would happen if they knocked somebody down, or ran into a waiter or waitress and got hurt, maybe got burnt with hot food? Then the parents would say it's the restaurant's fault."

- Hancock

"Somebody called in saying that Christians are fanatic. I'm not a fanatic but I am a Christian, and I have a short poem. 'Life is uncertain, death is sure. Sin is the cause, Christ is the cure.'"

- Hagerstown

"This call is for all the people who say thank you and don't really mean it, like 'thank you for running me off the road.' OK, we know it's sarcastic and cynical, but do you realize how stupid it sounds when you read it? Please stop saying 'thank you' when you don't mean 'thank you.'"
