Urbana Hawks (5-1) at No. 2 Middletown Knights (6-0)



When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: Urbana leads, 3-0.

Last meeting: 2004 - Urbana, 35-0.

Last week: The Hawks beat Thomas Johnson, 24-8. ... The Knights beat Frederick, 7-0.

Notes: The Knights have yet to score in the series, losing 24-0, 36-0 and 35-0. ... The Hawks are fourth in the tight Class 3A West playoff race. They moved up two spots to No. 14 in this week's state poll. ... The Hawks ran for just 41 yards in the win over TJ, but QB Mike Murray threw for 225 yards and 3 TDs on 17 of 29 passing. ... Urbana's defense did not allow a touchdown for the fourth time this season. TJ's only score came on a kickoff return. ... The Knights are off to their best start since 2001, when they finished the regular season 10-0. ... Knights FB Parker Lumley scored the only TD of the game against Frederick, fighting through a double team to catch a scoring pass from Kevin Linehan. ... The Knights are the top rated team in the Class 2A ratings for the second straight week.

Notes: The Saints rolled up 293 rushing yards in the win over Maret. ... Jimmy Sutch had 67 yards and 3 TDs, while Eddie Dorsey ran for 88 yards. ... QB Nik Holtz threw a pair of TD passes. ... The Spartans have been shut out in three consecutive games. ... Bishop Walsh allowed 255 yards against Timber RIdge, all on the ground. ... Adam Ashby had 80 receiving yards and Jeremy Sneathen had 63 for the Spartans. ... Kyle Gonzalez made 22 tackles. ... The Saints' game against Flint Hill, originally scheduled for Oct. 8, has been rescheduled for Nov. 12.

Linganore Lancers (5-1) at Tuscarora Titans (4-2)

The Lancers defense gave up 28 points in their only loss of the season (Damascus). They've allowed 33 points combined in their five wins. ... The Titans have lost two straight after winning their first four. ... The Titans trailed Westminster 42-0 at halftime. ... QB Chris Castro ran for one TD and threw for another. ... Westminster QB Kevin Clancy threw for 395 yards against the Titans, including 308 in the first half.

Frederick Cadets (1-5) at Liberty Lions (2-4)

Series: Frederick leads, 17-5.

Last meeting: 2004 - Frederick, 42-13.

Last week: The Cadets lost to Middletown, 7-0. ... The Lions upset Winters Mill, 21-13.

Notes: The Cadets have won the last four meetings and five of the last six. ... The Cadets have lost four straight games for the first time since the 2002 season. ... The Cadets have been decimated by injuries this season and are still without starting QB Damien Wallace (thumb) and his backup, Anthony Walker, who suffered a neck injury in the loss to Middletown. ... The Frederick defense limited Middletown to 114 yards on offense. ... The Lions have won two straight after an 0-4 start. ... Liberty QB Colton Weaver led an 18-play, 80-yard drive that took nearly 10 minutes off the clock in the second half. His 14-yard TD run put the Lions ahead for good. ... Weaver also threw for 154 yards and a TD.

Walkersville Lions (1-5) at Winters Mill Falcons (3-3)

Last week: The Lions lost to Francis Scott Key, 41-12. ... The Falcons lost to Liberty, 21-13.

Notes: The Lions have lost five straight since their season-opening victory over South Hagerstown. It is their longest losing streak since a five-game skid in 2001. ... QB Ryan Nusbaum was 15 of 30 passing for 216 yards and 2 TDs in the loss to Francis Scott Key. ... The Lions rushed for minus-51 yards while allowing 294 yards on the ground to FSK. ... Despite their loss last week, the Falcons still are fourth in the Class 2A West playoff ratings, just ahead of North Hagerstown. ... Garrett Hill ran 9 times for 72 yards and a TD for the Falcons in the loss to Liberty. ... The Falcons ran just one offensive play in the fourth quarter of the Liberty loss. It resulted in an interception.
