City woman waives right to hearing

A Hagerstown woman facing assault and weapons charges waived her right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Washington County District Court.

Tracey Denise Stepanian, 42, of 16901 Springlake Court, was charged Sept. 19 with four counts of first-degree assault, four counts of second-degree assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, carrying a handgun on her person and in her vehicle, malicious destruction of property and attempted malicious destruction of property, according to court documents.

Officers charged Stepanian after they say she fired two shots from a gun near the intersection of Halfway Boulevard and Hopewell Road in Hagerstown, documents state. Police said she had a loaded silver revolver in her vehicle that had been fired recently.

That night, Stepanian told police that someone confronted and spit on her mother outside of her mother's home, documents state. Stepanian was angry, retrieved the revolver and followed the person, who was traveling with at least one other person, documents state.

Stepanian told officers that she struck the person's vehicle with her vehicle and fired one round from the revolver, striking two vehicles' tires, documents state. She allegedly pointed the gun at two people, according to documents.
