Walk benefits breast cancer awareness

Step 'n Stride,a 5-mile walk or indoor floor events fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 22, at Hagerstown Community College's Athletic Recreation and Community Center in the Hagerstown area.

Participants will receive a sweatshirt with a pledge donation of $75. There will be pink tribute flags around the walk course, team pictures, sweatshirts, tote bags and door prizes.

All funds raised stay in the local area.

Rotary plans dinner and auction

Sunrise Rotary Club will hold its fourth annual dinner and auction Sunday, Oct. 23, at Four Points Sheraton. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. with a silent auction and dinner. The live auction begins at 7 p.m.

This year's event will benefit the ARC of Washington County, Friends of SafePlace Child Advocacy Center, REACH Caregivers, Washington County Arts Council and Sunrise Rotary Foundation.


More than 200 auction items will be available for silent or live bid. Items include trips to several locations, a set of uncirculated East German coins, pottery, a dump truck load of topsoil, oriental rugs, tea sets and more.
