WILLIAMSPORT - Morggan McGill two goals to lead Williamsport to a 3-0 win over Brunswick in an MVAL Antietam girls soccer match on Monday.

"We all came out with the attitude that we wanted to win and we accomplished that," McGill said. "I think that we really came through tonight. I think that we deserved the win. Winning tonight's game boosted our confidence."

McGill scored her first goal for Williamsport in the fourth minute on an assist from freshman Alluka Ogle-Moore. It turned out to be the only goal of the first half.

"The first goal was a good cross from Alluka," McGill said. "I was open in the box for the second goal and Kendal Moss crossed it over to me. I was able to get my head on it."

McGill scored her second goal with a header in the 53rd minute off an assist from Kendal Moss.

Freshman Amy Taylor closed the scoring for the Wildcats on a penalty kick in the 78th minute.

Junior goalkeeper Rachel Smith had six saves for Williamsport (4-5-1, 3-3-1).

"For me, the win came at the right time of the season," Williamsport coach J.R. Mellott said. "The playoffs are just around the corner. We have been struggling a little bit as our record reflects. I think it was a total team victory all the way up the field. Everybody out there played an excellent game and played well together as a unit."

Senior goalkeeper Lucy Shankle collected 13 saves for Brunswick (3-8, 2-4).

"It was a good game," Brunswick coach Dave Herber said. "Williamsport is a good team. We were a little bit flat and they took advantage of that. They play very smart."

Williamsport won the JV game, 1-0.
