As part of Hagerstown Community College's response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster, members of HCC's faculty and administration held a public discussion Monday, Oct. 10, on issues concerning the recent hurricane.
"The Aftermath of Katrina: An Academic Perspective" set the event in historical and sociological context while exploring the impact of the hurricane on the people, the place and the politics of the region.
Participants on the panel included Mary Deal, an adjunct allied health instructor who just returned from the affected area; Spring Ward, associate professor of political science; David Yohman, associate professor of administration of justice; Tom Clemens, professor of history; Connie Devilbiss, professor of sociology; Guy Altieri, president of HCC; Lori Spessard, instructor of economics; and Elaine Ashby, assistant professor of biology and chemistry.
