While the population in Jefferson County, W.Va., has continued to grow during the past few years, so has the number of individuals in need of services from Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels of Jefferson County is in critical need of volunteers who can pack hot meals for homebound clients and for volunteer drivers to deliver the meals.
Individuals are needed to pack food from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Volunteer drivers deliver the meals on one of four assigned routes through Jefferson County. Each route covers between 30 and 45 miles. There is now partial reimbursement for gasoline available.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer or in learning more about the program may contact the Meals on Wheels office daily between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 1-304-725-1601 and potential volunteers may contact Bill Ingram at 1-304-725-6594.
