Hohenhaus is Md.'s new state veterinarian

ANNAPOLIS - Dr. Guy Hohenhaus has been named state veterinarian and chief of animal health for the Maryland Department of Agriculture.

Hohenhaus will oversee Maryland's five animal health diagnostic laboratories, field inspectors and veterinarians.

Hohenhaus is from a family of veterinarians. He was raised in Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. degree in agriculture.

He attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned a doctor of veterinary medicine degree, and later earned a master's degree in Public Health from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He is a Veterinary Corps Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves, who recently returned from his second deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He has also been the Maryland State Public Health Veterinarian for the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
