Montgomery County teacher wins Teacher of the Year award

A Williamsport High School teacher who was one of seven finalists for Maryland Teacher of the Year did not win the Maryland State Department of Education's award.

French teacher Paula Moore was named a finalist in the state competition during the summer. Moore is in her 12th year of teaching at Williamsport.

According to Washington County Public Schools spokeswoman Carol Mowen, the award was given to Montgomery County Public Schools teacher Kimberly Oliver.

Oliver is a kindergarten teacher at Broad Acres Elementary School in Silver Spring, Md.
