No problems with flooding were reported following the weekend rain, according to Washington County Emergency Services and Sheriff's Department dispatchers.

According to Hagerstown weather observer Greg Keefer's Web site at www.i4weather.net, Friday's rainfall of 4.17 inches was one of the heaviest on record for a 24-hour period. Hagerstown received .63 inches of rain Saturday, according to the site.

September was the third-driest month on record, and a period of 25 days without precipitation to start the month was the second-longest dry stretch recorded, according to www.i4weather.net.

Almost 5 inches of rain had fallen on Hagerstown since Friday.

AccuWeather and the National Weather Service are forecasting small amounts of rain over the next few days. The weather is expected to clear by the weekend, with temperatures near 70 degrees.
