You Said It

"I am applying for the Supreme Court Justice opening. I have never been a judge and I have no experience in constitutional law; however, I'm a good person and a hard worker."

- Hagerstown

"This is about Smithsburg High School's varsity football season. The first game was against a private school that is not rated 1A, 2A or 3A. The second game was a 1A school, and the third and fourth games are within our league and within our own conference. That explains the schedule."

- Smithsburg

"My child's school gave me a list that required washable primary color markers, so I bought them. The school then put them all in a pile with other markers for the kids to share. My child then comes home with marker caked on her hands which will not wash off. What happened to the washable markers? I know they cost a few cents more, but I'm on a limited income and I managed to buy them. Some parents didn't want to be bothered to comply with the list."

"I see that the two candidates for governor of Maryland are starting to blow smoke all over the taxpayers' domain. Ehrlich seems to be ignoring us. One thing I haven't heard either one of these people talk about it is the Division of Corrections. I hate beating a dead horse, but we get plenty of publicity, but nothing from the governor's office. These people had better do something to help the state of Maryland or get out of the spotlight."

- Hagerstown

"I think it is an outrage that we would pay almost $700 to rent a bus and driver to take our elected officials and paid city staff for a ride around the city that they supposedly represent and already get paid to take care of. If they don't know their own city by now, and the projects that they're voting on, then they have no reason to be in office and should be removed immediately."

- Hagerstown

"I cannot believe that the city council took that expensive bus ride to see what is needed in the city. Why couldn't they just use their own two feet and just walk around the city and see what improvements need to be done? Was that money that was spent on that bus trip the taxpayers' money? That is totally ridiculous."

- Hagerstown

"I think registered sex offenders should be put on an island and left to starve to death."

- Hagerstown

"A person called in about children in a 1941 school photo, and said that they looked just as the good Lord meant us to look. Where did they find a dress code from the Lord anyway? What baloney - the Lord is so good that He accepts children however they dress and however their hair is - long, short or bald. The picture shows kids that fit the acceptance measuring stick of the caller. Praise God, his view exceeds that."

- Washington County

"What happened to the water at the City Park lake? I saw 11 dead fish in there on Monday."

- Hagerstown

"President Bush does not control the price of gas, oil or heating oil. After all, this is America, and companies have the right to set the prices for their products. He doesn't control what Wal-Mart charges for their services and products. Wake up. I hear we're going to get another hurricane, and I guess that's his fault, too."

- Waynesboro, Pa.

"I volunteer for Birthright of Washington County. We have a lot of extra knit hats for infants that we would be glad to share with any organization or person who needs some. We also have some dolls that need clothes so that we can give them to our children. If you are interested, please call my home number at 301-790-3468."

"This is for Commissioner Munson. You don't want to pay $1,800 yearly for a traffic signal light around Mason Dixon at the intersection for Citicorp because you say that it doesn't benefit Washington County. Yet Washington County gets $587,797 a year in real estate taxes and $160,000 in personal property taxes annually. You do the math, and tell me if $1,800 is worth it to save lives in that dangerous area, and to help out a company that employs over 2,000 people. All of the employees are not from Pennsylvania."

- Hagerstown

"I'm wondering why they had to pay $684. Why couldn't they have taken the County Commuter to do their little travel around town? It just seems like a waste of money to me, and I'm a taxpayer."

- Hagerstown

"Congratulations to Ryan McDonald for being named ACC offensive lineman of the week in football. It's a great honor for a great friend and an even better person. It was an honor to be your quarterback and teammate for three years. Keep up the good work, Big Mac, we're proud of you."

- Fairplay

"As the paper reported, we are in the worst drought since 2002. If I can remember correctly, just several years back we had water restrictions on all municipalities within the Tri-State area. I was just wondering why we have not seen any of that this year."

- Williamsport
