New faculty members added at HCC

Hagerstown Community College recently hired 15 new faculty members for the fall 2005 semester.

This is the largest number of faculty members hired by HCC since the college opened its doors in 1946, and brings the total full-time faculty at HCC to 70.

New faculty members include:

  • Sonja Barnes - nursing instructor

  • Richard Bennett - mathematics instructor

  • Joan Bontempo - art instructor

  • Richard Campbell - mathematics instructor

  • Cindy Dove - science instructor

  • Dawn Drooger - assistant professor of nursing

  • Richard Gagliardi - accounting instructor

  • Karen Hammond - nursing instructor

  • Ardyce Ketterling - developmental composition instructor

  • Andrew Keyser - Western civilization/music appreciation instructor

  • Sean Maher - Web design and multimedia technology instructor

  • Deborah McClain - CAN/GNA instructor

  • Mary Beth Pfeifer - nursing instructor

  • Richard Snyder - medical assisting instructor

  • Jeannine Stonestreet - elementary education/psychology instructor.


The college employed 15 faculty members when it first opened and offered 54 different classes. Presently, full-time faculty, in combination with 205 adjunct instructors, offer more than 600 classes.
