WILLIAMSPORT - A Hagerstown man who allegedly stabbed another man Saturday was charged with assault and reckless endangerment, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Michael Edward French, 26, of 329 N. Cannon Ave., received a visit from another man's girlfriend shortly after 6 p.m. at a home on North Vermont Street in Williamsport, deputies said.

The woman's boyfriend, a 54-year-old West Virginia man, arrived at the home and a fight ensued, deputies said.

Deputies allege French stabbed the man in the side with a knife. Deputies saw a small, bleeding wound on the man's side, and he was taken by ambulance to Washington County Hospital, from where he later was released.

French was being held on $75,000 bond Sunday night at the Washington County Detention Center, according to a spokesman there.
