CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.

A large paper cowboy boot equaled inspiration for Jennifer Davis, who co-owns Thomas June Gallery with her husband, Tom.

Davis saw the boot, featuring a quilled design with rolled thin strips of paper, about a year ago at a Lancaster, Pa., exhibit and thought a similar exhibit would make a great fundraiser here.

"It's a Shoe In" at the 21 N. Main St. gallery will be open through Friday, Nov. 11, when an auction will be held to sell shoes made from scratch or decorated by amateur or professional artists. Davis said 75 percent of the proceeds will go to Women in Need, a Chambersburg agency that assists victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and the rest to the Council for the Arts.

The auction is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11. Proxy bids will be permitted. Minimum bid is $30.

Gallery hours are noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Call 1-717-261-1111 for more information.
