October 08, 2005

A Silver Spring, Md., woman died Friday after a two-car crash on Interstate 70, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Martha L. Seifert, 84, was a passenger in a 2004 Ford Focus that was going west.

Police said Young Hyun Oh, 21, of State College, Pa., was driving east in a 1998 Toyota Camry.

At about 4 p.m., Oh lost control of his car on the wet road and went onto a berm, police said.

When he tried to regain control of the car, he oversteered, going back over the eastbound lane, across the median strip and into the westbound lane, police said.

Shirley M. Spory, 60, of Poolesville, Md., was driving west in the Ford Focus, which hit the rear of the Toyota Camry.

When they finally stopped, both cars were facing west in the westbound lanes.

Police said Seifert was pronounced dead at Washington County Hospital.

Spory and another passenger, James D. Spory, 60, of Poolesville, also were taken to Washington County Hospital.

A hospital spokesperson said Friday night that James Spory was discharged from the hospital. Shirley Spory's condition was not available.

Oh was taken to War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where he was treated and released.
