CLEAR SPRING - Michael Baer scored off an assist from Fred Kreiger four minutes into the first overtime period to lift North Hagerstown to a 2-1 victory over Clear Spring in MVAL Antietam action Thursday night.

Baer and Krieger also hooked up in the 12th minute, with Baer's first goal giving the Hubs a 1-0 lead.

Francesco Scotto DiCarlo scored unassisted in the 72nd minute for Clear Spring to tie the game.

North (3-7, 2-2) had 17 shots on goal to Clear Spring's five. Hubs keeper Josh Borland had four saves, while Aaron Mills had 15 for the Blazers (0-8-1, 0-3).

No. 1 Boonsboro 4 Brunswick 2

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Boonsboro remained unbeaten through nine contests in a rain-soaked MVAL Antietam battle.

Eric Fries, Mark Connelly, Tyler McKenrick and Nick Stenersen each had one goal and one assist as the Warriors took a 4-0 lead.

Russell Hoyt and Brandon Wilson each scored for Brunswick.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Damola Akinade scored in the 70th minute to lead Mercersburg Academy past Hedgesville.

Justin Mellott was credited with an assist for the Blue Storm (4-2-2), who outshot the Eagles, 12-6.

FSK 1, No. 8 Middletown 0

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - The Eagles' Cameron White scored with 3 seconds left in regulation as Francis Scott Key edged Middletown in the MVAL Piedmont.

The Knights dropped to 3-4-3 overall, 1-1-2 in league play.

JV: Middletown, 2-0.

Grace 3, Shalom 0

Nick Bunting had one goal and one assist to lead Grace Academy over Shalom Christian Academy in the Knights' first win this season in Mason Dixon Christian Conference play.

Stephen Wilson and Pat Salvagno also scored for Grace (3-10, 1-8), while Zach Morgan and Danny Michael each had one assist.

Heritage 3, Broadfording 3

The Mason Dixon Christian Conference matchup between Heritage and Broadfording ended in a tie after 80 minutes of regulation due to darkness.

Justin Cutchall had two goals and an assist for Heritage (5-4-1, 5-4-1), while Cody Butts had a goal, Travis Hendershot had an assist and Jonathan Ellis had seven saves.

Zach Fraker had two goals for Broadfording (3-7-3, 1-5-3), while Kyle Brown had a goal and two assists. Brian Snyder had 13 saves.


No. 2 Smithsburg 3 No. 10 Williamsport 0

After a 0-0 tie at halftime, Smithsburg (10-1-1, 5-0) broke through for three goals to down Williamsport (2-5-1) in an MVAL Antietam battle.

Shelby Layman scored 30 seconds into the start of the second half with an assist from Shannon Fowkes, who scored Smithsburg's second goal. With 10 minutes remaining, Chelsea Hoover scored for the Leopards. Carly Jones and Cara Jones had assists for Smithsburg.

JV: Smithsburg, 1-0.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ashley Ausherman scored on a direct kick in the 78:00 minute to lift Martinsburg over Hedgesville in the Apple Valley League.

Morgan Hunley had 12 saves for the Bulldogs (11-5-2, 9-1).

BOONSBORO - Katie Reese scored a hat trick and Kelly Kendle added one goal as Boonsboro blanked Brunswick in an MVAL Antietam match.

Sarah Kornides had two assists and Sarah Keyser had one for the Warriors. Annie Myers and Tory Burch combined on the shutout for Boonsboro (6-3, 2-2).

UNION BRIDGE, Md. - Whitney Boyer had two goals to lead Middletown past Francis Scott Key in an MVAL Piedmont match.

Heather Fleishell and Heather Devlin each had a goal and an assist for the Knights (4-4-1, 3-0-1) while Alex Driman and Danielle DePierro added one assist each.

JV: Middletown, 2-0.

Walkersville 1 South Carroll 1

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - The Lions' Heather Garver scored off an assist from Kelsey Dertzbaugh as Walkersville played South Carroll to a tie in the MVAL Piedmont.

Michelle White had 19 saves for the Lions (3-5-1, 1-2-1).

Kristin Harris had an unassisted goal for the Cavaliers to tie the match with 10 minutes left in regulation.

JV: Walkersville, 1-0.


No. 2 Williamsport 3 No. 10 South Hagerstown 0

WILLIAMSPORT - Lea Drury dished out 23 assists and had 19 service points to lead Williamsport in a 25-13, 25-10, 25-19 sweep of South Hagerstown in the MVAL Antietam.

Lacie Johnson had 13 digs and 11 kills for the Wildcats (8-1, 3-0) and Sammi Snodderly had 12 kills and nine digs.

The Rebels dropped to 6-4, 2-1.

JV: Williamsport, 2-1.

FREDERICK, Md. - Michelle Bateman had nine service points and 13 assists as Thomas Johnson swept Urbana 25-8, 25-21, 25-14 in an MVAL Chesapeake match.

Kirsten Thorson had nine kills, four aces and three blocks, Bethany Springer had seven points and five kills and Sara Hanlon had nine points, five aces and four kills for the Patriots (9-1, 4-0).

JV: TJ 25-17, 25-15

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Jess Snyder had 15 service points and 12 kills to lead James Buchanan past West Perry 25-10, 25-15, 25-13 in the Mid-Penn Capital.

Erica Helfrick had 24 assists for the Rockets (12-2, 6-2) and Brittany Cline added 20 digs.
