She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert L. Cunningham; one daughter, Shirley L. DeLauter of Greencastle; two sisters, E. June Smith of Lake Ridge, Va., and Janet Norford of Hagerstown; three brothers, Charles M. Kimmel Jr., Robert Kimmel and Jack Kimmel, all of Hagerstown; two grandsons; nieces; and nephews.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle. The Rev. John A. Toms will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.




Iris O. Merriken, 72


NOV. 18, 1932-SEPT. 29, 2005

Iris O. Merriken, 72, of South Burhans Boulevard, Hagers- town, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 18, 1932, in Charlotte, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Edna Goodman Knowles.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara J. Mangolangus of Greece; four sons, Ronald Merriken of Hagerstown, Richard Hurst of Boonsboro, and Robert Hurst and Clifton Hurst, both of North Carolina; four sisters, Tommie Cooper, Elise Davis, Pat Blake and Peggy Bullaboy, all of North Carolina; two brothers, William Hurst and Calvin Hurst, both of North Carolina; grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ray Hurst.

Services will be private.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.




E. Lloyd Parrish, 78


APRIL 21, 1927-OCT. 4, 2005

FREDERICK, Md. - E. Lloyd Parrish, 78, of Frederick, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born April 21, 1927, in Vincennes, Ind., he was the son of the late Albert J. and Ruth Ingle Sanders.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Parrish of West Warwick, R.I., and Sindi Garns of Jensen Beach, Fla.; three sons, Steve Parrish of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Michael Parrish of Warren, R.I., and Elton Parrish of Frederick; two sisters, Barbara Frederick of Vincennes and Mary Ellen Adams of Bruceville, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marcia Parrish.

Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Burial will be private.




William J. Walls, 74


MARCH 28, 1931-OCT. 4, 2005

William Junior Walls, 74, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at his home.

Born March 28, 1931, in Big Pool, he was the son of the late Alston W. and Bonita Calbert Walls.

He retired from Fairchild Aircraft.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Walls; two daughters, Bonita K. Smith of Hagerstown and Wendy Mumma of Clear Spring; three sisters, Betty Barger and Margaret Sheppard, both of Hagerstown, and Wilma Smith of Boonsboro; three grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd A. Walls, and one sister, Shirley Knode.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagers- town. Pastor James Hoffer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Paul A. Kuhn, 90


MAY 17, 1915-OCT. 5, 2005

Paul A. Kuhn, 90, a resident of Beverly Health Care Center, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at the center.

Born May 17, 1915, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late William H. and Annie E. Clevenger Kuhn.

He retired in 1958 from Burlington Railroad System of Chicago.

He was a Protestant.

He is survived by three daughters, Barbara C. Kuhn of Omaha, Neb., Judy A. Sharer of Hagerstown and Doris J. Pine of Shade Gap, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Kuhn, in 1963; one son, Gary Kuhn, in 2003; and one granddaughter.

Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg, Pa. The Rev. Rodger D. Murray will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Grace E. Deatrick, 96


JULY 17, 1909-OCT. 4, 2005

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Grace E. Deatrick, 96, formerly of 7331 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, Pa., died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at The Village of Laurel Run in Fayetteville.

Born July 17, 1909, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Anna Shultz Bowmaster.

Her husband, Guy R. Deatrick, died in August 1981.

She and her husband owned and operated the former Deatrick's Grocery Store in St. Thomas.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of St. Thomas and its Sunday school class.
