Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Amanda G. Hall, a 1999 graduate of Brunswick (Md.) High School, departed on a scheduled deployment in support of the global war on terrorism while assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron 87 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, homeported in Norfolk, Va.

Hall's squadron flies the F/A-18C Hornet, a single-seat, all-weather fighter and attack aircraft that is used for force projection, interdiction, close and deep air support, and fleet air defense.




Marine Corps Pfc. Douglas Colson Jr., son of Douglas T. Colson of Frederick, Md., recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.




Army National Guard Pfc. David C. Hixon, son of Linda Buchberger of Middletown, Md., and grandson of Philip Hixon of Palm Springs, Calif., has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Hixon is a 2002 graduate of Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Md.




Air Force Cadet Joseph E. Lapinsky, son of Debra Lapinsky-Oberholzer of Chambersburg, Pa., and Matthew Lapinsky of Greencastle, Pa., has completed Basic Cadet Training and earned the rank of cadet fourth class at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Lapinsky is a 2005 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.




Pvt. Eric S. Windsor Jr., son of Eric S. and Ingrid C. Windsor of Smithsburg, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Eric is a 2005 graduate of Smithsburg High School.




Matthew A. Robinson, son of Thomas and Sasdie Robinson of Greencastle, Pa., has joined the United States Army Reserve under the Delayed Training Program.

Robinson has reported to Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla., for active duty.




Air Force 2nd Lt. Douglas A. Fedorczyk, son of Larry G. and stepson of Patricia L. Fedorczyk of Waynesboro, Pa., has arrived for duty at Edwards Air Force Base, Rosamond, Calif.

Fedorczyk is a project engineer assigned to the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Fedorczyk, a 2000 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School, earned a bachelor's degree in 2004 from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.




Army Pvt. Paul P. Stanley, nephew of Melissa Rose of Martinsburg, W.Va., has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.




Marine Corps Pfc. Franklin J. Amaya, son of Diana E. and stepson of Jose B. Zavala of Ranson, W.Va., recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
