Fire company gets $66,215 in funds

BOONSBORO - The First Hose Co. of Boonsboro was awarded more than $66,000 in federal funding last week, Sens. Barbara A. Mikulski and Paul S. Sarbanes, both D-Md., said in a written release.

The fire company will use the $66,215 - funded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program - to install a new compressed air foam system, according to state officials. The foam system will be installed on the station's four-wheel drive mini-pumper.

The Boonsboro station received $112,500 in federal funds to purchase the mini-pumper last year, officials said.
