Phi Theta Kappa members contribute $500 to charity

October 03, 2005

Members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Hagerstown Community College's chapter of the national honor society, recently presented a $500 check for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to Margaret Spivey, HCC director of technology and computer studies.

The students earned the money through a campus fund raiser, PTK Campus Jail.

Spivey will participate in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Sea Gull Century Ride on Saturday. Her teammate is Phil Snodderly, former HCC director of facilities management and planning. Snodderly was diagnosed with MDS, a form of leukemia, in September 2004.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services.
