CLEAR SPRING

A Clear Spring teenager was injured Saturday when a van carrying students from Oberlin (Ohio) College collided with the car she was driving, according to Trooper 1st Class James Grinnan of the Maryland State Police.

Grinnan said the van, driven by Bruce Simonson, 55, of Oberlin, was eastbound on Md. 68 about 4 p.m. when Simonson attempted to turn into the driveway of a residence just west of Cedar Ridge Road and collided with a 1988 Pontiac Grand Am. It was driven by Amanda Gehr, 17, who was headed west.

Grinnan said Gehr was taken by helicopter to Washington County Hospital, where a spokeswoman said she was in fair condition Saturday night.
