Hagerstown Community College has named Judith Oleks, former dean of professional studies at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston, as its new vice president of academic affairs, the school announced Friday.
Oleks was chosen from a field of six finalists for the position. A total of 75 applicants from 27 states sought the position, HCC President Guy Altieri said in August.
During an 18-year career at Bunker Hill, Oleks served in several positions, including director of management information systems, acting dean of math/science/technology, department chairman and professor.
Oleks holds a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Massachusetts, a master's degree in mathematics from the University of Lowell (now the University of Massachusetts at Lowell) and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Salem (Mass.) State College.
