NYC trip includes Montel Williams show

NEWVILLE, Pa. - Newville Area Community Center is sponsoring a bus trip to New York City for the Montel Williams show Thursday, Oct. 6. The bus will leave Newville at 7 a.m. and Carlisle, Pa., at 7:20 a.m.

The cost is $45 per person and includes transportation and ticket to the show. The trip is open to anyone age 18 and older. There also will be time to shop or see the sites. For information, call 1-717-776-4393.

Bus trip planned for Christmas show

Washington County Commission on Aging will sponsor a bus trip to American Music Theatre to see "The Christmas Show" Wednesday, Nov. 16. Deadline to register is Friday, Sept. 30. The trip is for adults only.

Atlantic Coast Charters will depart at 8 a.m. from South End Shopping Center. Showtime is 10:30 a.m., dinner begins at 1 p.m., arrive home around 5 p.m.


The cost is $68 and includes a two-hour show of holiday music, dance and humor, a buffet at Willow Valley Restaurant, bus fee, bus driver's gratuity and taxes. See Civil War sites on a bus

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Shepherd University George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War will offer a limited number of seats to the public on buses that will visit nearby Civil War sites as part of the Civil War America, 1850-1865 course taught by Mark Snell, director of the GTM Center.

On Wednesday, Sept. 28, a bus tour will travel to Baltimore to visit the U.S.S. Constellation and Fort McHenry to study life in the Civil War navy and coastal fortifications. On Monday, Oct. 17, the tour will visit the Maryland Campaign sites including South Mountain, Harpers Ferry, and Antietam.

The cost of the Baltimore trip is $40 per person, including entrance fees. The cost of the Maryland Campaign tour is $35 per person. The fees include transportation to and from Shepherds-town on an air-conditioned bus and a guided tour. A lunch stop will be made. Buses will leave from Shepherd University campus at 8:30 a.m. and return at approximately 5 p.m.

Sugarloaf Crafts Festival nears

TIMONIUM, Md. - The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival will feature fine art and contemporary crafts, craft demonstrations, food and entertainment for all ages. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 2; and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Maryland State Fairgrounds, York Road. Admission is $7; free for ages 11 and younger. Parking also is free.
