Community Collaborative offers planning workshop for nonprofits

September 25, 2005

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - The Community Collaborative is offering the workshop "Strategic Planning Made Simple" to nonprofit organizations on Friday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Public Service Center in Kearneysville.

The workshop is intended to help nonprofit organizations identify goals and objectives to steer the future direction of their activities.

"Nonprofit boards of directors and their staff need to develop a vision of what they want to achieve, a mission for how they will achieve it, and a plan to implement dictating how they will get there," Trina Bartlett, director of the Volunteer Center of the Eastern Panhandle, said in a prepared release. "Developing a strategic plan can be a simple and fun process."

Participants will walk through the steps of developing a strategic plan for a fictional organization and Bartlett will facilitate.

The cost is $10. Lunch will be provided.

The Community Collaborative is a partnership of the Community and Technical College of Shepherd, Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation, United Way of Berkeley and Morgan Counties, United Way of Jefferson County, and Shepherd University.

All training is coordinated by the Volunteer Center of the Eastern Panhandle.
