Annual fall Dumpster program set

The City of Hagerstown's annual fall Dumpster program for city residents will run from Monday, Oct.10, through Saturday, Oct. 15, at the intersection of South Potomac Street and West Memorial Boulevard. Entry can be made from South Potomac Street by making a right-hand turn into the alley just past New Deal Truck Parts & Service.

Proof of residency will be required.

Dumping hours will be 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday. No dumping after 3 p.m. on Saturday will be permitted.

The program allows Hagerstown residents to discard household waste, furniture, mattresses, bikes, lawn mowers, building material and other similar items. Commercial haulers are not allowed to use the program.

The following items are not permitted: tires, batteries, paint, chemical waste or any other hazardous waste. Items that contain freon, such as refrigerators, air conditioners and dehumidifiers are not permitted.

City officials ask residents not to dispose of yard waste or recyclable items in the Dumpsters since the city has separate programs for those items. Information on the yard waste and/or recyclable items can be obtained by calling 301-739-8577, ext. 125.
