Board of Education approves audit



The Washington County Board of Education voted 6-0 at its meeting Tuesday night to approve a clean audit.

According to school system Director of Budget and Finance Chris South, the report filed by Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell, an accounting firm with offices in Hagerstown, was the latest time over about 10 straight years the school system has received clean fiscal-year audits.




Staff member and teacher get awards



A school teacher and a staff member were honored Tuesday by the Washington County Board of Education.

Jeanne "Dusty" Graham, a family and consumer science teacher at Williamsport High School, earned a Golden Apple Award through her collection of items to send to Iraq, Superintendent Elizabeth Morgan told the board. Graham's students last year made baked goods for soldiers in Iraq and collected toys for Iraqi children.

Lucky Johns, an assistant foreman with the facilities management department, received an ABCD Award for going above and beyond the call of duty in keeping the system's schools up and running and open for business.
