Commissioners agree to give $25,000 toward scholarship

September 21, 2005|by TARA REILLY

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday voted to give $25,000 toward The Magnolia Foundation Scholarship Fund to benefit students attending the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown.

The money will allow the County Commissioners to name two scholarships. The receipt of the scholarships will be at the discretion of the commissioners.

The commissioners said the scholarships will go only to Washington County residents and that other qualifying criteria will be determined at a later date.

The money from the commissioners will be matched by the Waltersdorf/Henson Endowment Challenge Campaign.
