Fishing licenses

Maryland



For residents, a nontidal or freshwater fishing license costs $10.50 for the calendar year. A five-day license costs $7.50.

For out-of-state residents, a nontidal license costs the greater of $20.50 or what the applicant's home state charges for an out-of-state license.

Nonresidents may buy a three-day license for the greater of $5 or the reciprocal cost or a five-day license for the greater of $7.50 or the reciprocal cost.

A trout fishing stamp costs $5 extra.

People younger than 16 may fish for free, whether or not they are state residents.

West Virginia or Virginia residents with fishing licenses from their home states may fish from the Potomac River's Maryland side without a Maryland fishing license.

West Virginia



State residents younger than 15 or older than 64 do not need a West Virginia fishing license.

For state residents, a fishing license costs $14. A trout stamp costs an extra $7.50.

For out-of-state residents, a fishing license costs $40 for the calendar year. A trout stamp costs $10 extra.

Nonresidents may buy a three-consecutive-day fishing license for $15. Subsequent three-day licenses that year cost $5 each. The trout stamp still is $10 extra.

Maryland residents with Maryland fishing licenses may fish from the West Virginia shore of the Potomac River.




Pennsylvania



People younger than 16 may fish for free.

For state residents ages 16 to 64, a fishing license costs $22. A one-day seasonal license (which cannot be used in April) costs $11.

For senior residents 65 and older, a one-year license costs $11. A lifetime fishing license for a senior resident is $51.

For out-of-state residents, a one-year fishing license costs $52. A seven-day tourist license costs $34 and a three-day license is $26.

A trout/salmon stamp costs $9. A Lake Erie watershed stamp costs $9. Buying both stamps together costs $15.
