Pet, bridal stores planned for Halfway shopping center

September 19, 2005|by TARA REILLY

A large pet store and a bridal shop are two of seven new businesses planned for Crosspoint shopping center near Valley Mall in Halfway.

Christopher Bell, senior vice president of Hekemian and Co., the shopping center's developer, said PETCO and David's Bridal will be moving into the center on Cole Road near Massey Boulevard.

Bell said he couldn't reveal what other businesses are coming to Crosspoint because leases have yet to be signed.

He said he expects construction to be finished by the end of the year.

Stores currently at Crosspoint include Target, Michaels and Kohl's.

Future plans include additional stores between Target and Kohl's, Bell said.

PETCO, with headquarters in San Diego, operates more than 750 stores in 48 states and Washington, D.C. During the first half of this year, PETCO opened 50 new stores, according to its Web site, www.petco.com.

PETCO plans to open 90 stores next year, the Web site states.
