Barbershop quartet



Just For Fun presents a TGIF concert. Today, noon to 1 p.m. Courthouse Square, Chambersburg, Pa. If it rains, the concert will be at Central Presbyterian Church, 40 Lincoln Way West. Free. Donations accepted.




Fundraiser dance

Sharpsburg Heritage Day



A celebration of Civil War heritage on the anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. Civil War-era music will be performed all day at the town square. Also lectures, historical exhibits, self-guided walking tour of churches and stone houses, food and old-time craft demonstrations. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A church dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, followed by a Jimmie Brown Appalachian music concert at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the dinner will be sold at the door. Tickets for the walking tour cost $10 and will be sold on the square in Sharpsburg. Call 301-432-6856.

Canal Apple Festival



Hancock Lions Club's 29th annual festival features arts and crafts vendors, food, car show, baby contest and live music. A kickoff community dance will be today from 9 p.m. to midnight and features music by Special Moments, a band from Falling Waters, W.Va. The festival continues Saturday at 11 a.m. with a parade ending at Widmeyer Memorial Park. Festival events will be Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Widmeyer Memorial Park, Hancock. MSO Pops concert



The Maryland Symphony Orchestra performs its annual Pops concert. This year's show is "Bravo Big Band." The MSO will perform "American Patrol," "Moonlight Serenade," "String of Pearls" and other tunes, as well as a medley of Frank Sinatra songs. Saturday, 8 p.m. The Maryland Theatre, 21 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Tickets are $20 to $72 for adults and are available at the MSO office, which is open today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets may be purchased by calling 301-797-4400 or by going to www.marylandsymphony.org. Tickets also are available at The Maryland Theatre. Children 12 and younger receive a 50 percent discount on single tickets.




Katrina relief fundraiser
