A Williamsport woman pleaded guilty Monday to embezzling more than $200,000 from Robinwood Orthopedic Specialists over nearly four years.

Krista Sue Hudson entered the guilty plea to one count of felony theft scheme in Washington County Circuit Court. Judge W. Kennedy Boone III postponed sentencing until November to give Hudson time to make restitution. The exact sentencing date has not been set.

Hudson, whose last known address was 16818 Tammany Lane, was charged with embezzling money from the physicians' office in 717 incidents from Nov. 20, 2000, to Oct. 15, 2004. She was ordered to repay $224,089. That includes the $222,450 she was charged with taking from the office, as well as costs incurred for copying bank receipts and conducting an audit, according to Washington County Assistant State's Attorney Mark Boyer.

Robinwood Orthopedic Specialists employed Hudson for about six years. She was fired after discrepancies were discovered in the office's bank-deposit slips.

Hudson had been free on a $40,000 bond that her attorney, John Salvatore, said was secured with a lien against her home. Boone decided to strike the bond and release her on personal recognizance pending sentencing so she could obtain a home equity loan to help repay the money. Salvatore said Hudson was prepared to pay $25,000 of the restitution Monday.
