A1 Correction

September 10, 2005

Due to a reporter's error, a story in Thursday's editions of The Morning Herald and The Daily Mail about traffic problems in Washington County provided incorrect information about traffic congestion along Eastern Boulevard. The story should have said that Washington County Public Works Director Gary Rohrer said congestion along Eastern Boulevard results from traffic stacking on Leitersburg Pike backed up from its intersection with Northern Avenue.

While a project to extend Eastern Boulevard to relieve that congestion is slated for completion in 2011 due to funding and priority issues in the county's Capital Improvement Program, Rohrer said actual construction could begin sooner if additional funding is available from developers or other sources.

Also, the story provided incorrect information about the proposed Southern Boulevard. The story should have said the proposed Southern Boulevard would cross Frederick Street and would connect Oak Ridge Drive and Edgewood Drive.

The Herald apologizes for the errors.
