EMS responds to 203 calls

SMITHSBURG - During July and August, Smithsburg Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to 203 calls, according to Capt. James Ulrich.

The department has responded to a total of 752 calls so far this year, up from 622 calls at this time last year.

Of the calls for July and August, 27 were to Frederick County, Md., and 11 were to Franklin County, Pa. Within the Smithsburg town limits there were 42 calls, while another 20 calls were in the Hagerstown area, 13 in the Cascade area and 12 in the Mount Aetna area.

Another 41 calls were to the Leitersburg area during July and August. Personnel transported 112 patients to area hospitals during the two-month period.
