August 30, 2005

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - A leadoff walk led to the winning run as Lakewood push across the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Hagerstown Suns, 3-2.

Relief pitcher Edgar Alfonzo walked Sam Orr, who moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Firth. After a ground out that sent Orr to third, Seam Gamble knocked a single to right to drive in the winning run.

On two occasions, Hagerstown (23-37 South Atlantic League second half) came back from one-run deficits to tie the game.

Down 1-0 entering the seventh inning, Grant Psomas drilled a lead off home run to left, his 20th.

Suns starter Orlando Rengel walked Orr to lead off the seventh and he eventually scored on a single for a 2-1 lead.

Hagerstown knotted the score in the eighth on a double by Matt Fisher, sacrifice bunt by Carlos Gomez and single by Jose Coronado.
