Eight teens contributed stories, poems and photos

Alan Sokol, 14, is a sophomore at St. Maria Goretti High School. He lives near Funkstown with his two brothers, four cats and four hermit crabs.

Julie Cook, 15, attends Williamsport High School. Her favorite subjects in school are English and show choir.

Hira Zeb, 16, is a junior at St. Maria Goretti High School and enjoys volleyball and the fine arts, and is ready for a year full of extracurriculars.

Tyler Austin, 15, is a sophomore at Boonsboro High School. He has played the saxophone for four years.

Lydia Hadfield, 15, of Jefferson, Md., enjoys biking, hiking, reading and writing. She is homeschooled.

Rosemary Ivosevich, 17, is a senior this year at Washington County Technical High School. She has a passion for art and writing.

Ana Jantz, 16, is a junior at Boonsboro High School. She adores photography but concedes she's no Ansel Adams ... not yet.

Fedora Copley, 13, is a homeschooler living in Hagerstown. She likes to travel and experience America's regional differences.
