August 25, 2005

KEEDYSVILLE - A robber put a knife to the side of a general store employee in Keedysville on Wednesday and made her give him money from the register, Maryland State Police said.

The robber ran to what looked like a small, black sport utility vehicle and drove toward West Virginia, police said.

The robbery happened about 2:20 p.m.

A man backed into a parking spot away from the front of the store, which is on Md. 34. When the last customer left the store, the man went inside to the deli counter, police said.

As a female employee turned to make a sandwich, the man went around the counter, put a knife to her side and told her to give him money from the register, which she did, police said.

The robber was described as a black man, about 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighing about 165 pounds, with a chunky build. He was wearing a dark T-shirt and jeans.
