Suns' bats silent in loss to Legends

August 24, 2005

The bats went silent into the night for the Hagerstown Suns on Tuesday night along with a modest two-game win streak.

Four Lexington pitchers held the Suns (20-33) to two harmless singles while the Legends pounded out 12 hits on the way to an 8-0 victory at Municipal Stadium.

Armand Gaerlan had a fourth-inning single, the only hit allowed by winning pitcher Del Guidice Paulino over five innings of work.

The Suns' Jose Coronado had a single in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Hagerstown starter Matt Durkin was touched for three runs in the first inning on a blast by Wallace Torbert. Durkin settled down and allowed only one more run, coming in the sixth, while striking out nine.
