Hope

By Mary Kavanagh

An amber inferno envelops an elementary school

Screams of young and old alike can be heard

No one knows who is inside

All we can do is

Hope.

A plane disappears into a dense mountain forest

Snapping and tearing of metal is heard

An unregistered private plane

All we can do is

Hope.

Deep in the heart of New York, a child is lost

The parents don't search, or even care

They tell no one

How can we ...

Hope?
